Benefits and Services

Financial Benefits

  1.  Early Diagnosis Can Save Money Over Time – Identifying cognitive changes early helps families plan proactively: Delays decline, potentially      avoiding costly crises like ER visits, hospitalizations, or premature nursing home placement; and enables access to early treatments and supportive services that can slow progression.
  2.  Helps Qualify for Financial Assistance – A formal diagnosis may unlock: Long-term care insurance benefits, disability or life insurance payouts, and tax deductions for medical expenses or dependent care (especially if you’re supporting a parent).
  3.  Supports Legal and Financial Planning While Your Loved One Can Still Participate – A timely diagnosis allows your loved one to be involved in decisions about powers of attorneywills, and trusts. Helps prevent future legal complications like court-appointed guardianship, which can be costly and emotionally difficult.

Emotional Benefits

  1. Peace of Mind – Instead of constantly asking, “Is this normal aging?”or “Are we overreacting?”, you’ll have real answers — and relief from uncertainty.
  2. Confidence in How to Help – Understanding the diagnosis means you can take informed action— no more guesswork, just a clear sense of how to best support your loved one.
  3. Letting Go of Guilt and Blame – When behaviors are understood as medical (not intentional), families often feel more compassion, less frustration, and greater emotional connection.
  4. Less Family Conflict – A professional evaluation provides a shared, unbiased understanding of the situation, reducing disagreements among siblings or family members.
  5. Space to Care for Your Whole Family – With a plan in place, you’ll feel more balanced — and better able to care for your kids, spouse, and    yourself, too.

Physical and Health Benefits

  1. Improved Safety – Neuropsychological testing can identify risks related to falls, wandering, or medication errors, allowing you to make proactive changes to keep your loved one safe.
  2. Better Medical Care – Doctors can adjust treatments more effectively when they know your loved one’s cognitive baseline — improving care for diabetes, heart disease, chronic pain, and more.
  3. Access to Early Interventions – Some treatments (medications, brain health strategies, lifestyle changes) are most effective when started early in the disease process.
  4. Prevent Unnecessary Hospitalizations – Understanding cognitive challenges can help avoid preventable health issues like dehydration, infections, or medication mistakes that often lead to ER visits.
